About Our Cover Artist
Artist Kitty Pechet teaches calligraphy at CCAE. She describes the cover as follows:
"This painting is my lesson plan for teaching the early history of western writing. It’s layered like the archeology of scripts, in order to answer the question why we write the way we do. I used a broad house painter’s brush, in the way letters were sketched for Roman stone carvers two thousand years ago."
