Amanda Keil offers eight years of experience in development and a broad perspective on strategies for fundraising success. A member of the Association for Fundraising Professionals, Massachusetts Chapter, Ms. Keil has won grants for Boston-area non-profits in the following fields: health care, domestic violence, housing development, job creation, at-risk youth, and the environment. She is familiar with foundation, corporate, and government funders throughout New England and New York State, where she has also served organizations in the fine and performing arts, human services, international development, and volunteerism. This course is an introduction to the grantseeking process and techniques for writing effective proposals. Participants will learn how to identify likely funders, understand different types of support, create a budget, prioritize deadlines, how to cultivate perspective funders, and the appropriate writing style for grantwriting. We will look at examples of winning proposals and review the latest trends in philanthropy to identify the best ways to seek and secure funding. Students will write different elements of a proposal, culminating in a full-length proposal for a specific project or organization. Perfect for people considering a career in development or for those seeking funding for a specific nonprofit. No prior grantwriting experience is required. Limited to 16.
