Finding Your Artist Voice

Sheila Rice

Instructor bio [+]

Sheila Rice, a native of Boston and a lifelong maker of art, is a nonobjective artist who has a talent called synesthesia; she sees colors when she hears sounds. Rice believes her art making is a journey of self discovery made visible in her acrylic stain and gestural paintings rooted in her passion for drawing and reflecting her synesthesia. Additionally, she is a watercolorist and an experimental printmaker. Rice studied with American Impressionists (Aldro Hibbard, John Chetcuti, John Buckley) in Rockport, MA, as a child, continued painting at Harvard where she earned her undergraduate degree, and completed her training at the Boston Museum School.
