Oriental brush, ink, and rice paper are the perfect instruments for spontaneous expression. By using understatement, suggestion, and concentration on the essential, we learn how to express the essential spirit of nature rather than transcribe its precise appearance. Our subject is the natural world: flowers and birds, trees and mountains. This is an opportunity to acquire skills that have inspired amateurs and artists from the T'ang Dynasty to the avant-garde. A list of supplies (approximately $35) will be sent to registered students. All levels are welcome. Limited to 14.
