Remy Dubois is a working photographer with a studio in Cambridge, who has taught at CCAE since 1995. He initiated and taught the Summer Workshop in Europe for The Art Institute of Boston for several years with programs in cities including Paris, Prague, and Florence. He has had four solo shows in the Boston area and has served on juries for the Copley Society and MIT's Legatum Center photography competitions. He serves on the Art and Culture Committee at the French Library and Cultural Center of Boston, and works primarily in Boston and in Paris.

ThisÊcourse will cover basics in photography, including camera technology and optics, physiology of vision, compositional techniques, visual and color theory, andÊlighting. The aesthetics and psychology of mages, readings and ideas drawn from Roland Bather, Cartier-Bresson, Giselle Freund, Virginia Woolf, Walter Benjamin, Heidegger, etc.ÊPrint images will be critically reviewed to analyze composition and the process of seeing. The objective is to produce a photograph and not a snapshot, and to engage in a process of self-discovery. A film or digital SLR camera is required, and you must have prior experience with basic photography. Please contact the instructor if you wish to discuss eligibility for this course.
