Propose a Class!

Please read below about the steps needed to propose a course at the Center.

A complete course proposal should include the following:

  • A Course Description of 1 paragraph in length (80 words or less). Paragraph should describe content of the course and what will be covered. Please feel free to write in your own style, although descriptions may eventually be edited for the catalog.
  • A Course Outline which briefly details the format, the themes and methods to be used for the class, and includes titles of text books or special supplies you might use in your course.
  • A Resume.
  • Term Dates:

    Fall Term 10 weeks End of September-Early December
    Winter Term 10 weeks Mid January-Mid March
    Spring Term 10 weeks Early April-Beginning June
    Summer Term 8 weeks Mid June-Early August

    Submission Deadlines:

    Fall Term First Friday in May
    Winter Term First Friday in September
    Spring Term First Friday in November
    Summer Term First Friday in February

    You will be contacted approximately 3 to 6 weeks after the proposal deadline.
    We will notify you by phone to set up a meeting to discuss your proposal further, or by letter if we don't feel that we can fit your proposal into our current offerings.
    Proposals are assessed in a number of ways such as:
    Is it a course that we are currently offering ?
    Is it broad based enough to have solid appeal?
    Does the applicant have adequate experience in the field?
