RAISE THE ROOF returns in 2012.
Be part of the most exciting art exhibit CCAE has ever known!
This spring CCAE proudly presents RAISE THE ROOF, a show of work by students and teachers, past and present. We expect to exhibit more than 250 works of art by 100+ artists at all stages in their careers — from the most accomplished to the very beginner. All work on display will be offered for sale to the public; the proceeds will be split 50/50 etween the artist and the Cambridge Center for Adult Education.
RAISE THE ROOF is scheduled for three weeks in May 2012 (the exact dates will be announced soon..) CCAE will use its proceeds to fund improvements to our art studios, including but not limited to new lighting, new storage units and sinks, and more!
This year RAISE THE ROOF will be organized by Julia Cseko, an artist and independent curator who has worked with both emerging and established profesionals through a series of exhibitions at GroupPy. A secongd-year graduate student at the Museum School, Cseko has recently discovered and fallen in love with CCAE and our students. She will be visiting all visual arts classes in the winter and spring terms to reach out to everyone.
History
RAISE THE ROOF first transpired in the spring of 2010 — using a donated space at 102 Mount Auburn Street next to Peet's Coffee. Many beautiful works of art were sold for $100, $200 or $300 to help CCAE fix our leaky roofs.
